From the Royal Air Force to House Spark Electrical
Martin completed his core electrical training while serving in the Royal Air Force, developing the technical skills, discipline and attention to detail that continue to shape the way House Spark Electrical operates today.
After leaving the Armed Forces in 2015, Martin established House Spark Electrical with the aim of providing safe, reliable and high-quality electrical services to homes and businesses across South Wales.
Since then, the business has continued to grow through recommendations, repeat customers and a strong local reputation.

Martin was one of several local veterans and organisations recognised at the 2026 Welsh Veterans Awards.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council highlighted the achievements of local winners following the event, naming Martin Byrne as the Gold Winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award.
The Council also described the awards as a celebration of the achievements of veterans and organisations making a positive impact across the local community.

The Welsh Veterans Awards were established to celebrate the achievements of veterans, reservists and serving Armed Forces personnel, while also recognising the contribution they make after transitioning into civilian life.
The awards help highlight the wide range of achievements made by former service personnel across business, community work, volunteering, leadership and other areas.
For Martin, the Entrepreneur of the Year award recognises the journey from military service into business ownership and the continued growth of House Spark Electrical.
